Ascena owns Ann Taylor, Dress Barn, Loft, Lane Bryant, Justice, Maurices and Catherines. It plans to close up to 650 locations over the next two years as part of a nationwide reshuffling.

No less than 250 locations will be closed, officials said, with another 400 in danger unless the company can negotiate lower rents at the locations.

Ascena isn’t the only retailer to feel the heat of the digital revolution. Earlier this year, GameStop, JCPenney, Sears, Macy's, Radio Shack, Payless Shoes, Bob's Stores and EMS are among many that have announced it is closing stores and cutting thousands of jobs.

Here are stores and locations in Fairfield County that could be affected:

  • Ann Taylor: Danbury, New Canaan, Stamford, Westport
  • Dress Barn: Danbury, Norwalk, Shelton, Trumbull, Stamford
  • Loft: Danbury, Westport, Fairfield, Stamford
  • Lane Bryant:  Danbury
  • Justice: Danbury, Trumbull, Stamford
There are no Maurices or Catherines stores in Fairfield County.
