Business Council Honors Companies For Healthy Workplace Programs

STAMFORD, Conn. -- The Business Council of Fairfield County will host its Healthy Workplace Employer Recognition Program on Friday, Feb. 13, at the Sheraton Stamford Hotel

The Business Council of Fairfield County will honor Chelsea Piers Connecticut in Stamford at its Healthy Workplace Employer Recognition Program on Feb. 13.

The Business Council of Fairfield County will honor Chelsea Piers Connecticut in Stamford at its Healthy Workplace Employer Recognition Program on Feb. 13.

The program will applaud the efforts of 44 area employers who understand the competitive advantage of a healthy workforce and who have implemented a diverse range of programs to promote a healthy workplace and assist their employees to live healthier lives.

The recognition program is presented by The Business Council’s Wellness Roundtable, with the support of First Niagara Risk Management Services Inc. and UnitedHealthcare of CT Inc. 

The Healthy Workplaces Employer Recognition Program offers three categories of distinction, Platinum, Gold and Silver, awarded on the basis of program components and outcomes.

Those being recognized in the Platinum category include Bigelow Tea (Fairfield); Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals (Ridgefield); Daymon Worldwide Inc. (Stamford); Harman International (Stamford); Norwalk Community College (Norwalk); People's United Bank (Bridgeport); Pitney Bowes Inc. (Stamford); Sikorsky (Stratford); Stew Leonard’s (Norwalk); and Tauck Inc. (Norwalk); among others.

Those being recognized in the Gold category include Ability Beyond (Bethel); CBP (Stamford); CBRE, Inc. (Stamford); Gartner (Stamford); Gault Energy and Stone (Westport); Priceline (Norwalk); PwC LLP (Stamford); Sacred Heart University (Fairfield); Stepping Stones Museum for Children (Norwalk); Terex (Westport); and Ultra Electronics (Sandy Hook); among others.

Those being recognized in the Silver category include American Institute for Foreign Study (Stamford); The Ashforth Company (Stamford); Chelsea Piers Connecticut (Stamford); Compass Furnished Apartments (Stamford); CT Challenge (Southport); Fairfield University (Fairfield); First County Bank (Stamford); and Weeden & Company (Greenwich), among others.

Corporate Wellness Programs in the region research demonstrates that employers realize increased productivity and reduced direct healthcare costs when they offer health and wellness programs to their employees.
