"In terms of our menu, its all about Asian comfort food," focusing on the ramen soup dishes traditionally served in Japan and Vietnam, Mecha Noodle Bar owner Tony Pham said. "It's Asian soul food."

This is not the "Cup of Noodles" eaten in college dorms, says Pham, this is traditional style ramen bowls made with fresh local ingredients.

Mecha Noodle Bar opened in May and has slowly been bringing people in for a real ramen experience, Pham said.

"It's summer time and a slow time. Our food is warm and more for winter and fall," Pham said. "But we opened in May on purpose. So we could work out the kinks."

And he said most of the kinks have been worked out, with people leaving positive feed back in the guest book received when the check arrives.

But this isn't the first time Pham has opened a noodle bar. He has owned a restaurant in Danbury for the past seven years, called Pho Vietnam, which is all about traditional Vietnamese comfort food.

When asked why he came to Fairfield, he said the town seemed like the most reasonable choice for the only ramen bar in the state.
