More details are to come but expect modern Japanese Izakaya meets Omakase in a treasured local landmark: The Vigilant Hose Company Firehouse at 6 Wilton Road.

Slated to open late Fall, the architect and designer who imagined The Cottage will be developing this new space, bringing out the original character of this historic building while crafting an exciting and lively space where the food will speak for itself, creating its very own original voice in the world of Japanese cooking, through an American chef’s culinary vision.

Lewis said he's been thinking about this new venture ever since he began developing Japanese inspired dishes and expressing his long-time passion for Asian cuisine.

Once the Omakase menu at The Cottage took off (a Chef’s Choice for $45), the wheels of creativity kept rolling, he said. That meant the introduction of a sake program and new exotic cocktails.

"We began seeing a tremendous demand and wonderful reaction from our guests that only further supported my desire to find another intimate and charming location in Westport," he said.

"We look forward to opening our doors later this year, and as always, continuing to cook our hearts out for you at The Cottage."
