Anson is currently CIO of the Robert Bass Family Office. Previously, he has served as CIO of the California Public Employees Retirement System and the British Telecom Pension Scheme and as president of Nuveen Investments.
Anson said he is excited to join Commonfund.
"It is a firm I have long admired for its innovation, investment leadership, and client stewardship in the nonprofit community," said Anson.
At Commonfund, Anson will serve on the firms Operating Committee and will chair the Investment Policy and Asset Allocation Committees.
Anson holds a bachelor's in chemistry and economics from St. Olaf College, a doctorate and master's in finance from Columbia University, as well as a law degree from Northwestern. He also holds CFA, CAIA, and CPA certifications.
He has published articles in journals and is the author of an important textbook for finance professionals. Anson has served on certification boards and on the New York Stock Exchange.
