Monday, May 14

Chamberlain Death Spurs Call for Police Oversight: 11 a.m. Active and retired police officers will call for further oversight of local police departments through legislation on the county and state levels, led by Blacks in Law Enforcement of America’s Westchester Chapter. Westchester County Courthouse, 111 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.

County Board of Legislators Meeting: 3 p.m. The Committee of the Whole will discuss the May 3 decision rendered by US District Court Judge Denise Cote on the housing settlement. 148 Martine Ave., eighth floor.

City Council Budget Meeting: 6 p.m. The City Council will hold its final meeting on the proposed 2012-2013 budget before seeking to adopt it May 21. 

We Sing for Team Donovan Benefit Concert: 7:30 p.m. We Sing for the World is holding a benefit concert in partnership with the White Plains Performing Arts Center and FARA to raise awareness and funds for the Friedriech's Ataxia Research Alliance.

Tuesday, May 15

School Board Budget Vote: 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. Residents can vote on the proposed $188,822,000 school budget, as well as three candidates for the Board of Education, all of which are uncontested. 

Reusable Bag Design Contest: 3:30 p.m. The student winner of the City's Reusable Bag Design Contest will be unveiled and Mayor Thomas Roach will discuss the City's plan to educate residents about the benefits of switching to reusable shopping bags.

Beach Boys 50th Anniversary Tour: 7:30 p.m. The reunion tour is the first to feature original members Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston and David Marks together in more than 20 years. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased in person at the County Center box office Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Ticketmaster.com or by calling 800-745-3000.

Wednesday, May 16

White Plains Farmers Market: 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The market is on Court Street between Martine Avenue and Main Street and will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesdays through Nov. 21.

Video Production Classes for Teens: 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. If you are a teen in grades nine through 12 with an interest in acting in or creating a video, the library is sponsoring a video production class that will create a public service announcement. To register, visit the library website. White Plains Library Room B, 100 Martine Ave.

Thursday, May 3

WCC Commencement Ceremony: 6 p.m. The Westchester Community College class of 2012 will have its commencement ceremony at the County Center, 198 Central Ave.
