Seven Vehicle Chain Reaction Crash Closes Portion Of Route 283 In Central PA

A multi-vehicle crash closed a portion of Route 283 East in central Pennsylvania, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The seven vehicle crash happened between the Salunga exit and the exit for Route 722 - Landisville, near Spooky Nook Road, on Monday, Apr, 25 at 10:50 a.m., according to PennDOT. 

The seven vehicles involved were two tractor-trailers, a transit van, three passenger vehicles, and one construction vehicle, according to responding police.

The transit van came to a stop in the right eastbound lane, and a tractor-trailer slammed into cause what East Hempfield Township police are calling a "chain reaction crash."

"Two of the drivers were taken to a hospital for what appeared to be minor injuries," police say.

All lanes of traffic were closed in the area for approximately two hours.

The crash remains under investigation.
