"We are incredibly happy, and I don’t think it’s fully sunk in yet. To be able to share the same stage at the same festival of so many legendary performers is a surreal and humbling thing for us." says guitarist Mike McNamara.

Both McNamara and bassist Lucas Gould first attended the Vibes in 2007, and have missed only one festival since. The group was the winner of this year's Road to the Vibes contest, where one band is selected by voters to perform on stage.

"It feels amazing to have our hometown crowd rally behind us and make sure that we got here. It feels like we truly have a home as a band," says Gould.

McNamara speaks to Relative Souls' hometown roots.

"The band is based out of Black Rock, with four of the five of us being current or former residents of the neighborhood. It’s where we built our home base. The fans we have from Black Rock are now our extended family, more so than anywhere else. It just seems fitting that we are able to play such a momentous occasion for what has become a local holiday weekend for our neighborhood."

As for their stage performance, concertgoers can expect a unique mixture of funk and progressive rock mixed with an incredibly high energy. "An ample amount of hydration will be necessary to maintain grooving at the energy level of the VibeTribe," Gould jokes.

"This is a definite milestone for us, and a major one, but we wouldn’t say we’ve made it. We’ve got a long way to go!" says McNamara.

To hear Relative Souls and experience the Vibes for yourself, tickets are still available for the festival in Bridgeport from July 30 to Aug. 2. Visit the website here for more information and to buy tickets.
