Stamford Hospital’s Hope in Motion organizers announced they would be a major sponsor of the Sound Cyclists Bloomin’ Metric Bicycle Tour at Sherwood Island in Westport.

“By becoming part of the Bloomin’ Metric, we are able to leverage two great events and offer cyclists one of the most challenging and picturesque rides on the East coast,” said Kari Pollak, manager of special events for the Stamford Hospital Foundation. “This will not only enhance the experience for the many loyal riders who have participated in Hope in Motion in previous years, but will significantly expand the ridership on behalf of the Bennett Cancer Center.”

Participants interested in riding to support Hope in Motion and the Bennett Cancer Center can start a team, join a team or raise funds as an individual. There is also an option to donate to Hope in Motion while registering for the Bloomin' Metric.

“The Bloomin’ Metric has truly evolved over its 37-year history, and attracts families and individual cycling enthusiasts of all skill levels from the Tri-state area and beyond,” said Bill Meredith, Bloomin’ Metric director. “This year will be the start of a great union with the Hope in Motion event and we are very happy to support such a great fundraising opportunity for a wonderful organization.”

Hope in Motion is a year-round fund-raising initiative for the Bennett Cancer Center at Stamford Hospital and offers "the community a way to get involved, take a stand and make a difference," representatives said. The initiative’s signature events, the Walk & Run, will also be held on June 1 at a separate event in Stamford.

Supporters looking for more information or to register for Hope in Motion’s 5K Walk and/or 5K or 10K Run can contact Kari Pollak at hopeinmotion@stamhealth.org.

Individuals can register for the Bloomin’ Metric, a fully supported cycling event with 25-, 47.6- or 62.1-mile routes at the Bloomin' Metric website.
