MT. KISCO, N.Y. - Halloween night is one of the most anticipated nights for the children of Mount Kisco. For weeks, they have been planning their strategy for getting the most candy possible and going back and forth on what costume they'll wear. Now, Mount Kisco children are just hoping for a chance to score some candy.
The strong nor'easter that took many by surprise on Saturday may have stolen Halloween from the children of Mount Kisco this year. According to the Village Manager of Mount Kisco's office, there are no plans to officially reschedule trick-or-treating at this time. There are also no plans to move trick-or-treating to a designated area.
We are strongly discouraging people from trick-or-treating, said Village Manager James Palmer. If you are going trick-or-treating, go while it is still light outside and make sure to have parent supervision.
According to Con Edison and the Village Manager's office, there are several live wires down around the Village of Mount Kisco that could pose serious hazards to trick-or-treaters.
It's going to be so hard to trick or treat around here, said Debbie Esposito Rossi, a Mount Kisco resident. There is so much ice and a lot of branches down.
Trick-or-treating isn't the only thing Saturday's nor'easter stole from Mount Kisco children, the nor'easter also impeded the Halloween Parade that was supposed to take place on Sunday in Leonard Park. The Mount Kisco Recreation Department has no plan to reschedule the parade or to schedule another event in its place at this time.
If you are going trick-or-treating today, please follow the safety tips below from Con Edison:
Be mindful that downed wires can be hidden from view by snow, tree limbs, leaves or water. If you see downed electrical wires, treat them as if they are live.
If you spot downed wires, please report the location to Con Edison and the Mount Kisco Police Department immediately.
