Yorktown Man Charged With Leaving Accident, Other Traffic Infractions

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. – Derek Defeo, a Yorktown resident, has been charged with leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended registration, as well as other charges on Sunday, Jan. 18, according to Yorktown police.

Police said that a police officer was investigating an accident in which it appeared that the party left the scene of a property damage auto accident in the Ridge Street area.

The operator of the vehicle later returned to the scene and after investigation it was charged that Defeo was operating his vehicle at a speed not reasonable and then left the scene of the auto accident, police said.

Police also charged Defeo with operating his motor vehicle while his registration was suspended, without insurance and with an expired registration.

Defeo was arrested and processed at Yorktown police headquarters. He was released without bail and ordered to appear in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m.
