Pccfa Presents Mulebone Concert

RYE BROOK, N.Y. - Roots and Blues duo Mulebone performed live on Friday at Crawford Park Mansion in Rye Brook. The concert was sponsored by the Port Chester Council for the Arts to commemorate the organization’s 30th anniversary.

The PCCFA is a non-profit organization whose mission is “to provide a variety of high quality innovative programs (that) inspire an appreciation of beauty, and creative expression”. Since it began thirty years ago, the council has mounted more than 110 productions for more than 2,000 adults and children.

Mulebone is made up of Port Chester native John Ragusa and roots music specialist Hugh Pool. Ragusa, a graduate of Port Chester High School, plays a variety of instruments including conch shell, Jews harp, multiple flutes, cornet, and tin whistle to name a few.

Pool, the duo’s guitarist and vocalist, plays harmonica and boot board as well. Its sound has been described as "country blues of all shapes and colors", and is heavily modeled after Blues icons Howlin' Wolf and the Reverend Gary Davis.
