Elyse Lazansky Launches Re-election Campaign

ARMONK, N.Y. - Current Town Judge Elyse Lazansky kicked off her re-election campaign last week with an event at her Armonk home to meet with voters and have balloting petitions signed.

The celebration was on Thursday evening from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 19 Fox Ridge Road in Armonk.

"I am passionate about the court, committed to our town and confident about my qualifications," Lazansky said.

Lazansky said she devotes herself full-time to the court and has never been a member of any political committee. She said her lack of involvement in partisan politics is an important qualification of hers.

"I believe strongly that judges must be fair and balanced, loyal only to the law and the democratic process," Lazansky said. "I am proud to be recognized for my strong academic and professional background."

During her time as judge, New York State and Westchester County requested Lazansky teach both newly elected and experienced judges. She lectured on different aspects of criminal law, trial practice and courtroom procedure.

"What really sets me apart from other judges is how dedicated I am to balancing the interests of a safe community with the need to ensure that defendants set out on a law-abiding future path," she said. "I monitor cases closely and fashion creative sentences which are appropriate to the violation."

Lazansky is the only candidate endorsed by any political party.

"I believe judges should be non-partisan," she said. "So I am seeking the lines of all parties."

Lazansky is a mother of three children that attend Armonk schools and said she is passionate about mentoring the youth of the town. She also lectures students on cyberbullying, Internet safety, alcohol, driving, and the law.
