Carvel Ice Cream Shop Burglarized: Briarcliff Cops

BRIARCLIFF MANOR, N.Y. – The owner of the Carvel ice cream shop at 1874 Pleasantville Rd. within the Chilmark shopping center reported that his store was burglarized at night, police said.

The burglar entered into the Carvel sometime on Aug. 7 or Aug. 8 through a back door that had been locked, police said.

The owner of the Carvel is compiling a list of things that were stolen, and police are investigating. There are no suspects, police said.

Also in Briarcliff:

- Police are investigating who sprayed green and orange spray paint onto the north side of the Rosecliff water tower on Wilderness Way. The graffiti was discovered on Aug. 11 at around 1 p.m., police said. There are no suspects for the Criminal Mischief felony crime, police said.

- A handyman at an apartment complex at 121 Route 9 reported that someone broke a fence surrounding a swimming pool on Aug. 7 or Aug. 8 and hung out at the pool at night. There are no suspects, police said.

- A woman reported that her Visa debit card was fraudulently used to make a $429 purchase at Foot Action in Valley Stream, NY, police said. The woman reported the theft on Aug. 13 at around 4 p.m.

- Downed wires were burning on Morningside Drive on Aug. 11 at around 7:30 p.m., police said. The Briarcliff Manor Fire Department and Con Edison workers responded to the fire and put it out.
