OSSINING, N.Y. The owner of Ecua on Croton Avenue lost $100 after a man went into his store to ask for a $100 bill in exchange for two $50 bills, police said.
A man asked for the exchange Thursday at around 7 p.m., police said, and after the owner give him a $100 bill, the man pulled a $1 bill from his hand and claimed the owner had given it to him by mistake. The man then asked for his two $50 bills back, which the owner returned.
The owner discovered the error later when cashing out, police said.

- The owner of 22 Emwilton Pl, reported that political signs for Peter Tripodi, the Republican, Conservative and Independence party candidate for Ossining town supervisor, were stolen from his lawn some time before 9 a.m. on Sunday, police said.
- A patron of the Atlantic Bar on Croton Avenue told police that he was accosted by a group inside the bar on Sunday at around 1:30 a.m., police said. The man, an Ossining resident, said he did not wish to pursue any charges but wanted to make a report, police said.
- A resident of Main Street told police that her boyfriend left her dog leashed outside 2 Maple Pl. on Friday at around 2 p.m. while he went into a store. When he returned, the dog was missing but part of the leash remained, police said. The dog was described as a five-month-old American pit bull terrier, police said.
