New Canaan Investigates Late Wednesday Fire

NEW CANAAN, Conn. – A fire at a nearly finished home under on Four Winds Lane was quickly extinguished by New Canaan firefighters.

Firefighters put out a burning detached garage around 10:30 p.m., Assistant Fire Chief Jack Hennessey said. No one was in the home and no one was injured, he said.

A woman driving in the area called 911 after smelling smoke.

Fire Marshal Fred Baker said the home at 57 Four Winds Lane was about 95 percent built. The fire was in a rear right corner and the home was 75 to 100 feet off the road. Baker is still investigating the cause.   

Firefighters from New Canaan, Norwalk, Ponus Ridge and Vista., N.Y. responded to the fire.
