Police Say Man Tried to Swallow Heroin to Avoid Arrest

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. – Police charged a Peekskill man with tampering with evidence, a felony, after officers said he attempted to swallow what they believe to be heroin Saturday night.

Officers approached Jerome Sullen, 47, near 100 Fisher Ave. around 10:30 p.m., which prompted Jerome Sullen, 47, to try to ingest what officers think was heroin in an attempt to resist arrest, police reports said.

Approximately 700 milligrams of apparent heroin was found on three pieces of wax paper on Sullen, police said. Sullen was arrested and charged with second-degree tamper with physical evidence, a felony, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.
