New Canaan Chamber Hosts Halloween Happening

NEW CANAAN, Conn. - The New Canaan Chamber of Commerce will stage its 30th annual Halloween Parade on Oct. 30.

This year, it won't be the same old Halloween Parade. The chamber is putting a bit of “Boo” back into the parade by setting up booths with fun activities for trick-or-treaters. Don’t forget to enter the “Best Dressed Family” contest with the prize donated by Venture Photography. Blue Star Soccer, Dr. Anna Simonis of New Canaan Pediatric Dentistry, Prudential Realty, Pura Vida, St. Mark’s Nursery School and Suzy Said will all be on hand with treats and activities for all. Village Critter Outfitters will also be taking pictures of pooches in Halloween costume, so don’t leave your dog at home.

James Daniel Music, sponsored by Toddlertime Nursery School, will entertain the crowd. Other sponsors include Avgerinos Construction, the Bank of New Canaan, Dunkin' Donuts, Lang’s Pharmacy, NuRenu Brand marketing, Salon Kiklo and TD Bank. Goodie bag items were donated by Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream, Dr. Mark DeWaele, the Chamber of Commerce, The Toy Chest and Walter Stewart’s Market. New Canaan resident Joe Vittoria, CEO of Pez Candy, has once again donated Pez Candy dispensers for goodie bags.

Marchers should gather in the Park Street parking lot starting at noon. The parade kicks off at 1 p.m. It will continue to Park and Elm streets, proceed down Elm to Main Street, and then loop back up Elm Street, which will be closed to cars.

This year’s grand marshals are firemen from New Canaan Fire Company No.1. The antique fire engine Old Faithful will lead the parade.
