Police: $2,000 Kona Bicycle Reported Stolen

BRONXVILLE, N.Y. –  A $2,000, bronze Kona bicycle was reported stolen from outside the Studio Arcade office building near Lawrence Hospital by a vigilant area merchant who spotted it being taken around 2 p.m. Thursday, but responding officers were unable to locate the suspect or the bike, according to Bronxville Police Department reports.

Police described the suspect as a black male sporting a red backpack.

Bronxville police also reported:

Driving without Insurance: A Mount Vernon man was cited May 29 and a Bronx man Thursday, both for allegedly driving with suspended license registrations for allowing their car insurance policies to lapse. Both men were ticketed for suspended registration and operating without insurance and had their vehicles impounded.

Car Accidents: A Yonkers woman was ticketed for allegedly damaging a lamp post about 6:15 p.m. May 30 while in a two-car accident on West Side Circle. A car parked on Cedar Street was reported to have minor damage on it from an undetermined cause around 4:40 p.m. May 30.

Alcohol Poisoning: A 19-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Lawrence Hospital about 12:20 a.m. May 26 from Studio Arcade with alleged signs of alcohol poisoning.

Emotionally Disturbed Person: An Eastchester man was reportedly disoriented and unaware of his surroundings while on Kensington Road at about 8 p.m. May 29 and was taken to Lawrence Hospital for evaluation.

Aggravated Harassment: Detectives are investigating harassing phone calls the past two months to a business on Pondfield Road that were described as “vulgar in nature” as aggravated harassment. Police were notified of the calls about 4:45 p.m. June 3.

Falling Branch: A Bronx motorist was uninjured but the car damaged when a branch fell onto the moving vehicle in the 300 block of Pondfield Road around 8:45 p.m. Thursday. The Bronxville Department of Public Works was called to remove the branch and the vehicle was towed away, police said.

Fire Department Activity: Eastchester firefighters were called to put out burning Con Edison wires in front of 72 Pondfield Road at around 7 a.m. Thursday. Firefighters also stayed close by after police officers confirmed a strong odor of natural gas on Masterton Road around 10:45 p.m. Sunday. Con Edison corrected the leak, according to reports.

Vandalism: A vehicle parked on front of a Westway home was discovered at about 1 p.m. Sunday to have been keyed along all sides except the passenger side door and the passenger rear fender.

Disturbance: A police officer located the owner and assisted with the removal of a car fuse that cause a vehicle’s horn to malfunction and cause a noise disturbance in the Garden Lot parking area on Garden Avenue about 6 a.m. Sunday.
