The Hudson to Housatonic Conservation Initiative (H2H) will be led by Highstead Foundation (on behalf of Fairfield County Regional Conservation Partnership), Westchester Land Trust, Mianus River Gorge and Housatonic Valley Association.
"H2H furthers landscape scale conservation by fostering collaboration across town and state boundaries. By drawing together a robust group of partner organizations and agencies under a single marquee, we can not only collectively share resources offered across the northeast community but we can better engage landowners and communities about the conservation values of their properties," said Westchester Land Trust President Lori J. Ensinger.
The focus will be on 13 areas with land that contains streams that drain into reservoirs or areas more likely to adapt to future climate change. Participating organizations and agencies will educate landowners about their land to gain a better understanding of their important role in sustaining natural resources.
Funding for the program was provided by a grant awarded by the U.S. Forest Service, Northeastern Area State and Private Forestry.
