Theodore Melonakos, 90, Stamford Accountant

STAMFORD, Conn. – Theodore C. Melonakos, a lifelong Stamford resident, died July 22 at Stamford Hospital. He was 90. 

He was born Sept. 25, 1921, to Constantine and Helen Antonakos Melonakos. A retired accountant, Melonakos worked at State National Bank of Connecticut. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific during World War II. 

Melonakos is survived by a son, Constantine "Dean" Melonakos, of Stamford; a daughter, Ann (Vito) Trabucco, of Rockaway, N.J.; a brother, Peter (Margaret) Melonakos, of Stamford; a sister, Helen Comolli, of Yardley, Pa.

He was predeceased by his wife, Betty Xanthos Melonakos; his stepmother, Georgia Aposporos Melonakos; and a brother, Jack Melanos. 

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Nicholas F. Cognetta Funeral Home and Crematory in Stamford. A Trisagion service will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, with the Rev. Evan Evangelidis officiating. 

A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Thursday. The funeral service will follow at 11 a.m. at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Stamford. Burial will be held at Woodland Cemetery in Stamford. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1230 Newfield Ave., Stamford, CT 06905.
