Cyber-detectives were trolling online when they encountered 28-year-old Joseph Nizza in January, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said following his March 15 arrest.

He then “uploaded illicit files to undercover investigators” from his Computer Crimes Task Force and the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department Internet Crime Unit, the prosecutor said.

These included “images and videos of pre-pubescent children engaged in sexual acts,” he said.

Nizza posted $25,000 bail and was released the day of his arrest.

Originally charged with two counts of child endangerment — for possession and for transmission of kiddie porn — Nizza was indicted yesterday on a single second-degree charge of receiving child porn to distribute it.

Molinelli thanked Ridgewood police and the Passaic County Sheriff’s Department for their work on the case, headed by Detective David Apgar.

Lyndhurst and Washington Township police lended officers to help in the investigation, he added.
