The robber — described as black, about 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, with a medium build and wearing a black shirt, grey sweatshirt and a black skull cap — then ran south from the West Pleasant Avenue bank down Spencer Joseph Way, the chief said.

Detecties were checking security cameras in the area, he said.

The Bergen County Sheriff’s Bureau of Police Services responded along with borough police. The sheriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification collected evidence.

Pegg asked that anyone with information that could help the investigation call Maywood PD: (201) 845-8800
