WILTON, Conn. -- Learn about America and the rebirth of Poland from 1914-1921 during a talk at the Wilton Library on Saturday, Jan. 31.

M. Bolek Biskupski will give the talk, which is part of a lecture series at the library. He will kick off the series with “America and the Rebirth of Poland, 1914-1921” by talking about the role the United States played in the liberation of Poland after 123 years under foreign occupation.

In the ninth year of the collaboration between the Wilton Library and the Wilton Historical Society, the scholarly lecture series will focus on the events leading up to World War I and the aftermath as America faces national and international challenges, following the theme of the breaking down of conventional patterns and the emergence of new paradigms to adjust with the times.

Biskupski graduated from UCLA Summa Cum Laude and won a fellowship to Yale where he completed his doctorate. He is the author of 13 books and several score shorter pieces. Currently he holds the S. A. Blejwas Endowed Chair in Polish History at Central Connecticut State University.

Receptions follow the talks. There is no charge, but donations are always welcome. The series is sponsored by Bankwell of Wilton. Program sponsors will be announced. The moderator is Max Gabrielson or Steve Hudspeth for each lecture.

The talk will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Registration is required. Please register for each lecture individually by clicking here .
