The event will take place on Friday, Dec. 12, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, 36 New Canaan Road. The cost is $20 per person, and children are admitted free.
The ringers will premiere a Christmas suite of German carols arranged for handbells by artistic director Ellen Dickinson, who will conduct. Listeners will be treated to many different types of bell sounds that create a tableau of village life.
The Festival Chorus will perform selections from the "Christmas Oratorio" by Saint-Saëns as well as traditional carols, both familiar and lesser-known.
Pipe organ, clarinet and favorite carols sung by all complete this richly textured "Sounds of the Season" celebration.
The Jubilate Ringers and Festival Chorus are two of Music on the Hill's four performing ensembles. The others are the professional-level Chamber Chorus and the 60-voice Summer Chorus. The groups perform seven to nine concerts each year. Music on the Hill also offers handbell workshops and an August Summer Sing.
