The group, which was organized Dec. 16, 1892, chose its new leaders unanimously in an election April 6.
The new officers are as follows: Autier Craft is regent, Judith Mobilio is vice regent, Alison McCarthy is recording secretary, Ellen Sturges is corresponding secretary, Abigail Moynihan is treasurer, Cathi O’Hara is registrar, Wendy Carter is chaplain, Kimberly Harke is historian and Sharon Cadden is librarian. Faith Arnold and Madeleine Eckert were elected to one-year terms as councilors.Nancy Roy and Pat Rubino were elected to two-year terms as councilors.
The new officers will be installed in an induction ceremony at the Norwalk Inn & Conference Center on Saturday, May 4, after a members’ luncheon at Adam’s Rib Restaurant. Chapter members, their families, and friends are invited to attend. The event will begin at 1 p.m.
The event will also celebrate of Rubino’s six years (three terms) as the chapter’s regent, which is the maximum term limit. She will step down and take on a two-year term as a councilor. During her tenure as Regent, Rubino is most proud of the chapter’s efforts in a grave dedication for a patriot interred in Norwalk. She was able to locate the grave, arrange for the plaque and set up a dedication ceremony to be performed for the local patriot on the behalf of Kansas residents.
The society is made up of women who can trace their lineage back to a Revolutionary patriot. In keeping with their focus on history, education and patriotism, the Norwalk Chapter was responsible for erecting many of the historical markers and monuments commemorating the history of Norwalk.
