Photographers Invited To Enter Connecticut Tree Festival Contest

NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Tree Alliance is taking entries for the fourth annual Flowering Tree Photo Contest and announces the upcoming Connecticut Tree Festival Saturday, May 21 in Cranbury Park, Norwalk.

Prizes will be awarded for the photos and they will be displayed at the Connecticut Tree Festival.

The contest is open to residents of Connecticut for images taken in the state, black-and-white or color, submitted on eight by 10 photographic-grade paper in uncreased condition, one photo per contestant. Photos should show a tree in flower, taken at any time of the year. They become the property of the Norwalk Tree Alliance and will not be returned. Entries will be judged by a panel assembled by the Norwalk Tree Alliance and the decision of the judges is final. 

Submissions must include the photographer’s name, address, phone number and e-mail, location of the tree, the species and the date the image was taken no later than Monday, May 16 at 4:30 p.m. at the Customer Service Center, Room 224, at the Norwalk City Hall, 125 East Ave., second floor.

Everything at the festival is free, admission, parking, chances on door prizes, even a picnic-style lunch for everybody. Exhibitors pay nothing for space or their booths, nor are they permitted to sell products or services on the property.

The exhibit is called “A Celebration of Trees,” to be launched at the Gilbert & Bennett Cultural Center (at 49 New St.) in Wilton, to May 30, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The work will also be displayed May 21 at the festival at the Gallaher Mansion and terrace in Cranbury Park from,11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
