The event, which runs from 4 to 6 p.m. at 276 Ridgefield Road, coincides with the gallery’s once-a-year "Art in the Barn" exhibition.

This year’s theme is Artboom: Celebrating Artists Mid-Century, Mid-Career. The exhibit will run today through May 8.

Artboom features artists born near the center of the last century, between 1946 and 1964. Considered Baby Boomers; the youngest of whom recently turned 50, and the oldest of whom have been creating art for more than 50 years.

BrownGrotta owners, Tom Grotta and Rhonda Brown, have asked the artists to submit a work that is reflective; work that tells visitors to the exhibit where they’ve come from or where they hope to go; work that illustrates influences, roads not taken or thoughts of legacy.

As an example, Jin-sook So’s recent bowl-themed series made of electro-plated steel mesh is inspired by her mother, a Buddhist, who blessed a bowl of water each morning.

Grethe Wittrock’s work metaphorically aligns the experiences of her seafaring ancestors with those of migrating birds, referencing their shared reliance on the natural elements for survival.

The CAFC Gallery Tour has visited a different commercial gallery member of the Cultural Alliance each month since last September, opening with the C. Parker Gallery in Greenwich. The tour progressed through Stamford (Fernando Luis Alvarez Gallery), New Canaan (Heather Gaudio Fine Art), Norwalk (Leclerc Contemporary Gallery), Southport (Southport Galleries), Westport (Nylen Gallery at Picture This) and on to Bridgeport last month at the Framemakers Picture Framing And Art Gallery.
