Ridgefield Playhouse Screens Opera, 'Curious Incident Of Dog' In Live HD

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – The Ridgefield Playhouse will continue its showings of Live HD performances on its big screen.

The National Theatre of London’s broadcast of “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time” will play on Friday, Aug. 22. Puccini’s "La Fanciulla del West" with Deborah Voigt will play on Friday, Aug. 29. Both shows start at 6 p.m.

"The Curious Incident of the Dog" tells the story of a child with a mathematical gift who may also have Asperger's syndrome. It follows a mystery surrounding the death of a neighbor’s dog.

The play, adapted by Simon Stephens, was recognized as Best New Play at the 2013 Oliver Awards Ceremony tying the record for winning the most Oliver Awards in a year.

Mark Haddon, author of the novel on which the play was based, praised the play in a press release. “We may have a ‘War Horse’ on our hands,” said Haddon.

"La Fanciulla del West" is an opera taking place at a miners' camp in California between 1849 and 1850 as men try to win the heart of Minnie, the "Girl of the Golden West." It's led by conductor Nicola Luisotti.

Tickets for each screening are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and members, and $15 for students. Tickets can be purchased by clicking here or by calling the box office at 203-438-5795.

Bernard’s at 20 West Lane will offer a special $45 prix-fixe menu or a free glass of wine with dinner on the night of the show when tickets are presented. Reservations are suggested.

The Ridgefield Playhouse is at 80 East Ridge.
