Rising Jazz Star From Danbury Headlines At Ridgefield Playhouse

DANBURY, Conn. -- Danbury resident and rising jazz star Jumaane Smith will play the Ridgefield Playhouse on April 8 as part of the 109 Cheese and Wine Evening of Art, Wine and Jazz and Northeast Builders of Ridgefield, LLC Emerging Artist Series.

Smith is best known to audiences throughout the world as the lead trumpeter for international superstar Michael Bublé, traveling with him for the past decade. Smith's talent can also be heard on many Grammy Award winning recordings with collaborations ranging from pop idols to jazz legends, including: Stevie Wonder, Quincy Jones, Aretha Franklin, Barbara Streisand, Wynton Marsalis, Herbie Hancock, Santana, among many others. 

Come early and have a beer compliments of City Steam Brewery for each ticket purchased. Also, enjoy a complimentary wine tasting courtesy of 109 Cheese and Wine and an art exhibit by Angelo Perrone and John Perrone, courtesy of Rockwell Art and Framing. Visit Piccolo’s Pizza and Jazzeria, 24 Prospect St. for dinner the night of the show and enjoy a complimentary glass of house wine with your entree when tickets are presented. 

One of only 17 musicians invited to join the inaugural class of Jazz Studies at the Juilliard School in 2001, Smith's musical accomplishments include playing the Grammy Awards show with Stevie Wonder; recording “As I Am” with Alicia Keys; appearing on American Idol, performing at the White House for both Bill Clinton and George Bush and scoring and performing music for the critically acclaimed films “Handsome Harry and Being In The World.”
