The group, created and led by STAR staff members Nancy Armstrong and Mark Minnock, is made up of musicians with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

“Music is a universal language. Our bandmates may have disabilities but they instinctively understand and enjoy music. They have an infectious love of dancing, singing and performing—and they lift the audience’s spirits. Hearing and seeing Rubberband perform is an experience that can’t be missed,” said band co-leader Minnock.

The energetic group includes members Charlie Sherman, Talisha Maxwell, Denise Sapione and Mimi Lesu of Norwalk; Bill Tolles and Arunas Vaitsuzis of Wilton; and Angel Sanchez playing bass. The group plays hits such as “Proud Mary,” “Black Magic Woman,” “Shake, Rattle and Roll,” “All Shook Up,” “Rockin’ Robin,” “Stuck on You” and “Breakdown."

This year, the group will also be selling fundraising T-shirts at the performance as well as online. The shirts, available in different color combinations and tie-dye options, are imprinted with the Rubberband logo and start at $20 each.
