One of the new events begins Saturday at 9 a.m. at Fairfield Ludlowe High School. Touch-A-Truck runs until 2 p.m. and will feature nearly 60 vehicles.

Children can climb upon construction and fire trucks, peek inside ambulances and learn about the Fairfield Police Department’s Mobile Command Center, motorcycles and DARE car.

Food trucks on site will include Snappy Dawgs and Vazzy’s and Micalizzi’s Italian Ice. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Center for Family Justice. Touch A Truck tickets are $4 and can be purchased on site.

The Barnum Festival and Julian Enterprises sponsor Touch A Truck.

The Barnum Festival was founded in 1949 to build community spirit in the region and to pay homage to P.T. Barnum -- showman, entrepreneur and philanthropist. He founded the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus.

The Festival produces a series of free and low-cost events to benefit the community at large including the Wing Ding Parade for Kids at Beardsley Zoo, The Barnum-Greater Bridgeport Symphony Pops Concert and Skyblast Fireworks at Seaside Park and the Great Street Parade.

New events this year include a road race, and the “Barnumpalooza” at Seaside Park, which will feature music, food trucks, a beer garden and rides for kids. Click here for the complete list of Barnum Festival events.
