Andy Romer Photography Exhibition Reception: 6 p.m. This one-man show features local photographer Andy Romer, winner of the Wilton Arts Council “Focus 2011” Best in Show Award. Romer is a New York-based photographer who grew up in Wilton. The exhibit runs through Sept. 28. A portion of the proceeds benefits the library. The reception open to the public. Robert The Guitar Guy at Wilton Library: 11 a.m. Children ages 2 to 6 are invited to a fun performance by Robert the Guitar Guy. Robert uses music, props, movement and dance to entertain children and their grown-ups. Registration is recommended. Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Road.
Saturday, Sept. 8
Seed-saving Workshop at Millstone Farm: 1 p.m. Marta McDowell, lecturer/gardener at the New York Botanical Gardens and Drew University, will teach people how to save seeds from vegetables, grains and flowers to use to propagate new plants. In this workshop, you’ll learn how to collect seeds, store them and then start them when the time is right next year. The program is $30 per person. Millstone Farm, 180 Millstone Road.
“Poetry in Motion—Rewind, Pause, Fast Forward” at Wilton Library: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Poetry in Motion is an annual program for teens in grades 6 to 12. This year’s theme is REWIND, PAUSE, FAST FORWARD. Students are invited to submit original poems (serious or humorous; short or long) about the past, present and/or future. About 35 poems will be selected for a two-performance event in March at the library. Poems will be paired with art, music and/or dance for the live performances, as well as published in a commemorative book. Submit poems to email@example.com by Oct. 15. Wilton Newcomers Club Ice Cream Social: 2 to 5 p.m. The Wilton Newcomers Club Open Houses are an opportunity to learn about events and activities offered by the club such as book clubs, playgroups, dinner groups and more. Come and meet your neighbors and enjoy your start in Wilton. Join other newcomers for an afternoon of fun in the sun. Activities will include playing at the playground, swimming in the pond and enjoying ice cream from the College Creamery truck. Registration is required and can be done at the club’s website, www.wiltonnewcomersclub.com. Meet at the Pavilion near the playground, Merwin Meadows Park, 52 Lovers Lane.
