“I lost my mother to Alzheimer’s disease far too early," said Greenwich resident and Emmy Award-winning television news reporter Kendra Farn. "She was diagnosed when she was just 60 years old. Whatever I can do to raise awareness and fight this disease for my daughters and generations to come, I will do."

Farn will emcee the event.

The Alzheimer's Association Connecticut Chapter event will feature live music, a Zumba warmup, a tribute ceremony and activities for children.

Participants will be asked to choose a Promise Flower with a color representing their reason for walking. They will inscribe a personal message on the flower and raise it during the opening ceremony. After the ceremony, the flowers will be placed in the Promise Garden. Four residents of Fairfield County will represent each color and share their personal stories.

Donations for the event can be made online at alz.org/ct and will be accepted through Dec. 15.

Participants of all ages and abilities are encouraged to register for free online or by calling 860-828-2828.

The walk will take place from 8:30 a.m. until 1 p.m.
