WILTON, Conn. – Four well-known Wilton residents, including a world-famous famous soccer star, will test their knowledge Friday to see if they are smarter than fifth-graders.

The Wilton Education Foundation will host its third annual “Are You Smarter Than A Fifth Grader?” event at 7 p.m. Friday at the Clune Center at Wilton High School.

A total of 16 fifth-grade students from Cider Mill School will be part of the show. They will be joined by four contestants, including Wilton native and U.S. women’s soccer star Kristine Lilly, Wilton High School star athlete Casey Pearsall, Cider Mill School science teacher Kevin Meehan and Bryan Ennis, a first grade teacher at Miller-Driscoll School. The fundraiser is based on the popular television show of the same name.

Maxine Berg, chairwoman for the event, said she’s expecting another full house for the show, which has proven popular in the first two years. “We wanted to provide a family-friendly event.” Berg said. “It’s nice to look out and see neighbors and kids all cheering for the contestants and the kids.”

Money raised during the event will go toward purchasing extra items for Wilton Public Schools. The foundation has previously purchased iPads and Smartboards for schools.

Reserve tickets are $25. General admission tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. To buy tickets, visit the Wilton Education Foundation’s website .
