‘World’s Greatest Bar Band’ Rocks Ridgefield Playhouse

RIDGEFIELD, Conn. – NRBQ (New Rhythm and Blues Quartet), a group that has been called the “world’s greatest bar band,” will be showcasing its talents at 8 p.m. Sept. 19 at The Ridgefield Playhouse. The group plays a mix of rhythm and blues, pop, jazz, rockabilly and more.

Tickets are $35 and may be purchased by calling the box office at 203-438-5795 or visiting the website at ridgefieldplayhouse.org. VIP party passes are $25 per person and include access to a cocktail party from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m., open bar, appetizers and priority parking. These may also be purchased by calling the box office.

Southwest Café, 109 Danbury Road, is providing a free margarita with dinner to anyone who shows an NRBQ ticket on the night of the show.

“Brass Tacks is as accomplished and as spirited an album as the band has ever made,” according to the Los Angeles Daily News.

NRBQ’s most recent album, Brass Tacks (Clang!), was released this year. This show is part of the Xfinity Rock Series.

Rolling Stone’s online review said, “Brass Tacks contains the fun, zest, humor and flat-out rock that has defined the band since their birth decades ago.”

Band members are Terry Adams, keyboards and vocals; Scott Ligon, guitar and vocals; Casey McDonough, bass and vocals; and Conrad Choucroun, drums.

The Ridgefield Playhouse is a nonprofit performing arts center located at 80 E. Ridge St., parallel to Main Street.
