NEW CANAAN, Conn. -- Waveny LifeCare Network’s, Iron Chef Showdown was held last month at The Inn, the organization’s independent living community on Oenoke Ridge in New Canaan. The cook-off featured three chefs facing off to create their best culinary masterpieces in under an hour.

Chef Wayne Theodis of Waveny, chef Terri Salmons of The Inn and chef Jonathon Lindley of Morrison Community Living, competed to create dishes that incorporated the secret ingredient of oranges. The three were allotted an hour to prepare their dishes, working in front of a hungry crowd of Inn residents, families, friends and staff members.

The meals were judged by former Waveny board president and development committee member, Judy Bentley, Waveny’s Chief Financial Officer, Shaun Powell and The Inn's Assistant Director of Resident Activities, Barbara Jeffries. The judges were presented entrée and dessert creations before crowning the Iron Chef champion.

After being judged on a variety of factors, Theodis was selected as the winner, earning the first ever Iron Chef Showdown trophy. Salmons won the “resident choice” as she earned the most votes based on the ballots submitted by the audience after sampling the chef's dishes.

“The event was a true success,” said Anthony Pacchioni, Director of Dining Services at Waveny LifeCare Network. “The chefs and MC did an incredible job interacting with the residents and engaging them in the experience.”
