Cost is $10 for singers, but free for those who just come to listen
"Carmina Burana" will be conducted by CCS Artistic and Music Director Eric Dale Knapp. He will also give a preview of the Connecticut Choral Society’s season.
The Summer Sing is open both to singers high school and older as well as to non-singing music-lovers who would like to listen as audience members. This is an opportunity to learn the background of Orff’s capstone piece, to sing the choral sections, and to experience the rehearsal techniques of a high-caliber choral ensemble.
An appointment to audition for the Choral Society can be arranged before the Summer Sing or in September. Singers are needed for all voice parts, particularly tenors and basses.
The Connecticut Choral Society, a 75-voice auditioned chorus, sings a broad repertoire of classical and contemporary music. Musical plans for 2016-2017 include Candlelight and Carols concerts in December, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 on April 22 with the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra, and two spring concerts on May 21 and 22.
For the month of September, CCS will rehearse Monday nights from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Valley Presbyterian Church, with all subsequent rehearsals at South Britain Congregational Church in Southbury.
For more information or to schedule an audition, contact the Connecticut Choral Society at (888)-927-2933 or visit its website. The Valley Presbyterian Church is at 21 West Whisconier Road in Brookfield.
