But after 26 years, this will be the final year for the elaborate and handmade holiday display.

"There are no words to describe how we feel about having to close the village for the last time this season. Just know that as much as we have been a tradition to you, you have been a tradition to us," they wrote on their Facebook page. "We have made some pretty wonderful memories for so many people, including ourselves, and we are just so happy to have been able to bring a little tradition, peace of mind, and place of comfort & holiday spirit to you all."

The Settis, who also pose as Santa and Mrs. Claus on Christmas Eve, also thanked the community for its support and visits over the years to their Midwood Road home.

The couple, who are in their 70s, were excited to be included on the ABC competition as they put up their giant display for the last time.

"We figured since this was our last year, why not go out sharing our home with the entire USA on national television," they wrote. "What a beautiful way to put the Village to bed."

The display includes more than 150,000 lights, more than 400 characters, and attracts about 5,000 visitors every year.

“Our house is different because it’s an old-fashioned display,” Rick Setti said. “This is what I remember, this is what Joanie remembers growing up. This is the way we see Christmas.”
