WILTON, Conn. -- Animals In Distress in Wilton is seeking a home for Sabrina, a female cat whose owner moved away and left her behind.

She arrived at the shelter over a year ago. Since then, Sabrina initially refused to leave her cage for over six months, though the door was always open, a release said.

Finally, she ventured out and now resides in a small kitchen area, but still hasn't ventured into a big room with cat trees and windows.

Sabrina seems afraid of other cats at the shelter, though she loves people and children, and especially likes attention.

For more information, send an email to Animals in Distress at kittiesforkeeps@gmail.com or go to an open house, held Saturdays, 1 to 4 p.m.; also visit by appointment.

The shelter is located at 238 Danbury Road, Wilton.
