In the meantime, here's the "scoop" on why this one is so DVlicious. The other candidates will be featured daily with another profile Thursday.
Scoops Old Fashioned Ice Cream, 92 Old Ridgefield Rd., Wilton, (203) 834-1100
Years in Business: 33
What Makes Their Ice Cream Special: The ice cream comes from Buck's in New Milford, a family-run business that prides itself on its quality ingredients.
Scoops also believes in family and the shop has become a sort of community center where generations gather for cool treats. According to Manager Casey Chase, the flavors and prices haven't changed since the "new" owners, the Walls, took over in 2009, continuing that "old-fashioned," community feeling.
Number of Flavors: 14 (eight favorites are always on the menu; the other six are filled by a rotation of flavors)
Most Popular: Swamp (vanilla ice cream with crushed malt balls, chocolate chips, Oreos, caramel and M&M's) and Mud (coffee ice cream with fudge, Oreo and chocolate-covered almonds).
