NEW CANAAN, Conn. — Creative types can get a sneak peek into one of the country’s oldest artist communities at the Silvermine School of Art’s Open Art Studio, a full day of free workshops and demonstrations.
Held from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 9, the day of artistic exploration is open to artists of all ages and levels.
Try a new technique or medium, learn a new discipline, join an in-depth workshop or just observe some of the many demonstrations going on throughout the day.
The extensive schedule includes hands-on workshops in landscape painting, metal fabrication, stone cutting, wood carving and clay.
Expert demonstrations will feature glasswork, lithography, watercolors and oils.
Participants can meet over coffee at 9:30 a.m., with sessions beginning at 10 a.m. Attendees are also invited to browse the annual Faculty Exhibition in the Silvermine Galleries.
