Balancing Act: Van Goes Over Guardrail In Curve In Road In Monroe

MONROE, Conn. — The driver was not hurt, but it was a precarious situation after a van went over a guardrail and ended up balanced over the shoulder of a road in Monroe, firefighter said.

The crash was reported at 6:27 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Hammertown Road and Wildhorse Court in Monroe, the Stevenson Volunteer Fire Company said in a Facebook post. 

The crash occurred on an S-curve in the roadway just before the intersection, firefighters said. 

The driver was able to get out of the vehicle without assistance and was checked by Monroe EMS. 

Crews from Stevenson Volunteer Fire checked for hazards, cleared the scene and moved out just after 7 p.m., the Facebook post said.
