The gala will take place Sunday, June 5, at 5:30 p.m., at the Fairfield Theatre Company, 70 Sanford St., Fairfield.
At the event, Circle of Friends will present 11 high school seniors from Staples High School in Westport, Weston High School and Wilton High School with Fellowship Awards for its combined 3,000 “friendship hours."
A new video presentation called “The Power of Friendship," produced especially for this gala, will be shown.
The dinner will also feature a Chinese auction and a recognition/advertising journal to raise much-needed funds for the organization. Westport residents Ellen Lautenberg and Doug Hendel are chairing the dinner committee.
Local and state dignitaries will be presenting the volunteers with their awards. Circle of Friends’ Young Leadership Award will be presented to volunteer alumna Quincy Stein of Westport. Quincy, a rising sophomore at American University in Washington DC, is being recognized for her work there on behalf of individuals with disabilities.
Circle of Friends is nonsectarian. It is an all-volunteer organization that reaches out to children, teens and adults with special needs, and involves them in a full array of inclusive social programs and weekly plays dates.
Concluding its 12th year, Circle of Friends’ teen volunteers and their adult supervisors are currently involved with over 120 families in the area.
