Crowds Check Out Books At Tent Sale At Westport Library

WESTPORT, Conn. — Traffic at the Westport Library's summer book sale was terrific all weekend, according to the volunteers. And it's not too late to find a few summer reads and a couple of book bargains.

The early birds got to the sale long before the opening at 9 a.m. Saturday. The tent was opened when the rain started, and that started the equivalent of a Library Black Saturday.

About 300 volunteers help with sale, with 100 working each on Saturday and Sunday.

On Monday, books are sold for half-price. On Tuesday, it's all you can eat day — whatever is left is free.

Can't get enough of the books? Next weekend is the Pequot Library Book Sale in Southport. If you bring a couple of cans of food for the Fairfield Food Pantry, you can park in the church lot adjacent to the library.
