Danbury To Dedicate Memorial Park To Fallen Heroes This Sunday

DANBURY, Conn. – The city of Danbury will dedicate the newly built Police and Fire Memorial Park to pay tribute to heroes who gave their lives in the line of duty.

Mayor Mark Boughton, along with the Danbury Police and Fire Departments, will dedicate the park located at 357 Main St.  on Sunday, Oct. 15 at 10 a.m. The event is open to the public.

“We built Memorial Park as a place of remembrance and reflection,” said Boughton. “The park will provide the opportunity for folks to gather and remember the heroes in our community who made the ultimate sacrifice while in the line of duty.”

This park will be dedicated in memory of the following fallen heroes:

  • Officer Florence Sullivan
  • Officer Robert Keating
  • Constable Frederick Ellis
  • Officer Steven Michalko
  • Captain Dennis Cooney
  • Officer Donald Hassiak
  • Detective William Hull
  • Assistant Fire Chief Richard Fitzsimmons
  • Firefighter Walter Gebert
  • Firefighter Arthur McCormack
  • Captain Charles Rush
  • Firefighter Joseph Kuba
  • Lieutenant Paul Kraiger
  • Firefighter Joseph Halas
  • Lieutenant Martin "Butch" Melody
  • Assistant Chief Thomas Morris
  • Firefighter Thomas Burke
