A Hurricane Katrina rescue dog, Hooper brings along owners Jane Paley and Larry Price of Easton when he volunteers at the Adolescent Transitional Living Program at Silver Hill Hospital twice a month.
Silver Hill Hospital has over 230 volunteers who help improve patient care and support hospital operations. Each week, about 75 volunteers provide a variety of patient activities and recovery discussion sessions, everything from patient baking groups to art and pet therapy and hosting AA meetings.
Silver Hill volunteers give 8,800 hours each year.
Hooper, Paley and Price visited the hospital earlier this week, which is National Volunteer Week.
