The season will kick-off with its Annual Meeting from 4-5:30 p.m. on June 14 at the Wilton Library, 137 Old Ridgefield Rd. in Wilton Center, and will be followed by a speech by former American Library Association President Maureen Sullivan.

The meeting will cover the election of officers and new trustees, acknowledge retiring board members, and present its outstanding Volunteer of the Year and Staff Member of the Year awards.

This year’s nominated officers include returning members Ann Duffy, president; Ileanna Barns-Slavin, secretary; and Robert Kelso, treasurer. Diane Wilson, a current trustee, is nominated for vice president, replacing the retiring Glenn Hemmerle. Retiring board members will be honored with books placed in the collection with a nameplate acknowledging their library service.

After the meeting, Sullivan will give her talk “The Library’s Role in Ensuring a Thriving Community for All.”

Sullivan has served as the human resources administrator at two major research libraries and was a consultant and trainer with the Association of Research Libraries.

As ALA president, she launched The Promise of Libraries Transforming Communities in conjunction with The Harwood Institute for Public Innovation. The program prepares librarians to engage the public and become innovators in their communities.

Sullivan has also worked with the Harvard Graduate School of Education, establishing the first Library Leadership in a Digital Age institute.

“As we enter our 120th year of service, Maureen’s talk is quite fitting for our celebration,” said Wilton Library Executive Director Elaine Tai-Lauria in a statement. “We’re delighted to have such a widely recognized leader and advocate address this wonderful community.”

Registration for the meeting and guest speaker is encouraged. Visit wiltonlibrary.org or call (203) 762-3950, ext. 239, to register or for more information.
