The free outdoor event runs from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. and is open to people of all ages.

Live music will be performed throughout the day as families participate in a myriad of activities on the grounds of Lounsbury House. At 1:30 p.m., Magic Dave takes the stage to treat the audience to extraordinary illusions and tongue-in- cheek comedy. A sports zone, arts and crafts stations, balloon animal artists and face painters will provide additional entertainment, and the Ridgefield Police Department will conduct complimentary car seat safety checks. Lounsbury House staff and volunteers will hold tours of the historic landmark – and award prizes to children participating in the pumpkin hunt.

“After months spent in summer camps and traveling – and the madness of back-to- school –October is a time to settle back into life,” said Belinda Lasky, Executive Director of Lounsbury House. “Welcome Home Week is our way of bringing us back together as a community. What better way to do that than with an event to celebrate families?”

Chairpersons Holly Endee and Catherine Scatterday led volunteers to organize and run Family Day, inviting a number of organizations and local businesses to participate. The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is hosting the arts and crafts booth, and Ridgefield Parks and Recreation is providing the inflatables. Bach to Rock will perform the live music, Whip Salon will style hair, and Natural Scoop Ice Cream will dole out sweet treats from their food truck.

More than 20 local sponsors have contributed to Family Day, making it a true community event.
