Images from town photographers are featured in the first-ever Discover Outdoor Wilton calendar. It is the brainchild of the Garden Club’s conservation committee, which invited shutterbugs of all ages to take creative photos in different parts of town during all four seasons. The effort was meant to get people to show what they love about Wilton, Conservation Committee co-chair Kristen Begor said.

“We asked for their favorite reading spots, favorite vistas, childhood haunts, where you used to play hide and seek,” Begor said. “We got over 70 photos from 30 photographers. We were just thrilled with the response.”

A committee of five photographers perused the photos that were selected for the calendar. The 12 winning shots were announced last month at a Garden Club reception at the Gilbert & Bennett Community Cultural Center.

Those who snapped the photos loved taking part, Begor said. “It’s really all about Wilton and the beautiful sites we have in Wilton,” she said. “It showcases what kind of talent we have in Wilton. People in town can take beautiful photos. We could have done four or five calendars.”

So far, more than 50 calendars have been sold, Begor said. She hopes to sell more as the holidays approach and people give gifts to fellow Wilton residents and town natives residing elsewhere. Proceeds from the calendar sales will go toward repairing the Garden Club’s greenhouse at the Comstock Community Center.

Calendars can be purchased for $20 at the Garden Club luncheon next Monday, at the Village Market from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday or throughout December at the Gilbert and Bennett Community Center.
